our story
Company Predecessor.
In 2019, an unincorporated, friend-based platform offering illustration commissions was born, the precursor to the company, Szeer Studio. The platform operates on a Chinese e-commerce platform. It is dedicated to helping individual students with illustration skills to earn a living with their skills before they graduate, and to strengthen and inspire their skills and creative thinking in the field of commercial drawing and design.
As a result, many of the illustrators quickly gain experience within a year or two of joining. They graduate successfully and develop independently in the commercial art field, rather than joining large commercial companies directly, allowing them to use their greatest talents in their most energetic years, free to find their potential and direction.
It is still open here! As our side business.
Sketch under
the lunchbox.
It happens in every school. People have lots of ideas, went into rough sketches, but never take them to the next level because of a lack of support and a loose connection between the idea and their courses.
It also happens at Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, where Bob (the director) studied. Back then, his friends and he were having lunch and someone had the brilliant idea of designing a chair and sketched it down on the bottom of a sushi lunchbox. Everyone was sold on the idea. And it was immediately thrown away after the meal (of course!).
It never came back, even the designer himself forgot about it. What if this idea could be developed? It would be a great experience and a great way to gain knowledge. After this story, the reason for founding Seer Studio was created, to keep the pure design spirit of the student era.
Sustainability, materiality.
As a team of designers, we believe that design is about aesthetics and product strategy. We believe that using emerging design to bring new materials to life will be the best way to introduce people to new and natural materials.
The introduction of green materials will ultimately reduce the consumption of materials and energy to a specific limit, undermining the cost outlay and allowing more markets to showcase their products through emerging materials, making the market more diverse.
We try to use innovative designs on sustainable and emerging materials to make them actually go into people’s daily lives, and we work with our supply chain to collate responsible sourcing for materials, to change the view perspective of people on recycling and sustainability with things that they touch, move and use every single day, to alter the elusive but out of reach boundary.
Exploration.
We will aim to become the most influential platform for young artists, to link UK-based designers with international designers so that potential creative products can have international fame/commercial access to broaden their subsequent professional exposure and user base. This will include brand creation, a journal for designers, a community for all emerging design lovers, educational programmes, designer collaboration, exhibitions and more.
We are exploring an alternative way to bring all design-related people together, express themselves, and enjoy themselves. As what our purpose wrote, we see ourselves in our creation.
